INDONESIA HAS OFFICIALLY BECOME THE HOST COUNTRY FOR THE G20 SUMMIT IN 2022.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi revealed that Indonesia will hold the Presidency or host the G20 Summit in 2022.

"I can say that Indonesia will hold the G20 Presidency in 2022," he said in a press statement after accompanying President Joko Widodo to attend the virtual G20 Summit from the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Sunday (22/11) evening.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs revealed that initially the Indonesian Presidency was in 2023. However, considering that in 2023 Indonesia will also hold the Chair of ASEAN, Indonesia has discussed the timing of the chairmanship of the G20 with India. "Incidentally, India also has the same proposal to hold the G20 Presidency in 2023," he said.

In this way, Indonesia will exchange presidential terms with India. "Indonesia will hold the G20 Presidency in 2022 while India will hold the G20 Presidency in 2023," said the Foreign Minister.

With the Indonesian Presidency falling in 2022, he added, starting in 2021 Indonesia will be part of the G20 Troika.

Regarding Indonesia's chairmanship, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani stated that Indonesia would prepare a sustainable finance track agenda with the plans prepared by the 2021 G20 Summit Presidency, namely Italy.

"Indonesia will continue to prepare together with the Italian Presidency, because we will host the G20 in 2022 where the continuity of the agenda between years is always maintained," he said.

The big theme raised by Italy, said the Minister of Finance, was People. Planets, and Prosperity or 3P. The people theme will discuss efforts to overcome gaps and promote equal opportunities, the planet theme will discuss implementing the Paris Agreement commitments, and the prosperity theme will discuss efforts to accelerate new technology and digital transformation as a source of growth for a better quality of life.

"Of course the 3P theme is very, very relevant for Indonesia. "In the field of finance track, the Italian Presidency will focus on health issues, a strong growth framework, infrastructure financing, international financial architecture, financial regulation, financial inclusion, international taxation and the green agenda," said the Minister of Finance.

To prepare the finance track, added the Minister of Finance, his party will collaborate with related institutions in Indonesia.

"The Ministry of Finance will work together, especially with Bank Indonesia, the OJK, and of course within the Cabinet to be able to prepare agendas in the financial sector, so that they can truly overcome the problem of global economic recovery and create a stronger global economy, which has a foundation which is more competitive, productive and sustainable," concluded Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
