Cambodia and Myanmar are now illegal countries for Indonesian migrant workers.
According to the Minister of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), as quoted by detik.com, Mukhtarudin stated that Cambodia and Myanmar are not destination countries for Indonesian migrant workers (PMI). If Indonesian migrant workers depart for Cambodia, it is certainly illegal. They depart through unofficial companies not registered with the BP2MI.

Destination countries for Indonesian migrant workers must meet three requirements and be accredited: protection, social security, and work regulations. Furthermore, an agreement or Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) must be established so that the destination country can be designated as a safe area.
The Indonesian government is obliged to assist and facilitate the return of Indonesian citizens working illegally abroad. If any have already arrived in Cambodia illegally, they will be assisted in their repatriation. Besides Cambodia, Myanmar is also not a destination country for migrant workers. Many Indonesian citizens arrived in Myanmar illegally and then fled to Thailand due to military operations.
Due to the military operations in Myanmar, those working as scammers ultimately fled to Thailand. The government is addressing this issue by collaborating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Embassy in the country, and the Indonesian Human Rights Protection Agency (BP2MI) within the Anti-Trafficking Task Force.
