INDONESIAN MIGRANT WORKERS GET MORE ACCOMPLISHED, FIVE INDONESIAN MIGRANT WORKERS WERE AWARDED THE NEW TAIPEI CITY 2024 EXAMPLE WORKER AWARD
Indonesian migrant workers are not only foreign exchange heroes for the country, but also often make achievements that make Indonesia proud because they were awarded the 2024 exemplary worker award by the New Taipei City authorities. The five exemplary Indonesian Migrant Workers are Samikhun (Factory Worker, 40 years old, from Cilacap), Syifanul Janah Bt Ngateman Kur (Nurse at a Nursing Home, 41 years old, from Demak), Umi Kulsum (Domestic Nurse, 28 years old, from Ngawi), Siti Purnati (Household Nurse, 41 years old from Indramayu). The Indonesian Migrant Workers who received the award have worked in Taiwan for 1.5 years to 14 years.
"I felt shaking," said Syifanul Jannah after receiving the award. Titinih also revealed that her award and struggle in Taiwan was dedicated to her late mother and child who had lived far from each other for 12.5 years.
As a factory worker, Samikhun believes that being diligent and enthusiastic about working is the main key to him being awarded the exemplary worker award. Meanwhile, Umi Kulsum, who is a Household Nurse, advised Indonesian Migrant Workers who have been and will work in Taiwan, "We have to work well, if we intend to come here, we have to treat our patients like our own family." Meanwhile, Siti Purnati believes that her prayers and efforts led her to work for a patient employer even though at the start of her work she still did not fully master the language.
The New Taipei City Exemplary Workers, Bus Drivers and Taxi Driver Award Ceremony which was held in the Multi-Purpose Hall on the 3rd floor of the New Taipei City Regional Government Office was attended by the Mayor of New Taipei City, Legislative Representatives, Head of the New Taipei City Employment Bureau, General Chair of the Trade Union Federation New Taipei City, Chairman of the Taxi and Public Transport Association, all Associations of various employment sectors, 247 workers who received awards from employers, and agencies. Apart from Indonesia, representatives from the Philippines also attended the event.
In his remarks, Mayor Hou Youyi appreciated all workers for their hard work that drives the economy and development. Apart from that, Mayor Hou Youyi hopes that 1 national holiday for workers can be realized as soon as possible in accordance with the promise of the Taiwanese authorities.
