The Minister of Manpower's answer to the question, "What protection do Indonesian Migrant Workers get from the Government?"
On the 10th of May 2024, the Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah held a socialization of the Employment Social Security program for Indonesian Migrant Workers. This Social Security Program is one of the government's efforts to protect Indonesian Migrant Workers. It is hoped that with the existence of Social Security programs for Indonesian Migrant Workers, those who want to work abroad no longer need to feel anxious.
Ida Fauziyah said that the Employment Social Security Program for Migrant Workers is regulated in Minister of Manpower Regulation (Permenaker) No. 4 of 2023 concerning Social Security for Indonesian Migrant Workers which was ratified on February 22 2023.
This Permenaker is an improvement on the previous regulation, namely Permenaker No.18 of 2018, which was no longer in accordance with legal developments and needs.
"Through this social security program, Indonesian Migrant Workers can get complete employment social security protection from before, during and after work." explained Ida Fauziyah in Macau, quoted from a written statement from the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) on Friday (10/05/2024).
According to Ida, in Minister of Manpower Regulation Number 4 of 2024, there are 7 new benefits and 9 benefits whose value has increased, with the contributions or premiums that must be paid remaining the same.
"We hope that the increase in benefits and various convenience services for migrant workers can provide better welfare for them." he said
The Minister of Manpower advised the Indonesian Migrant Workers, that they are not only Foreign Exchange Heroes for the Indonesian Nation, who have made a major contribution to the national economy, but also as National Ambassadors who introduce the tourism, cultural and culinary riches of Indonesia to foreign audiences in their host countries.
"For this reason, Indonesian migrant workers must work with gratitude, so that they can reflect the image of the Indonesian nation as a great nation, a polite nation, a nation that obeys the rules, and a nation that has superior human resources." Said Ida
