TAIWAN OPENS VACANCIES IN AGRICULTURAL SECTOR, EAST JAVA RESPONDS TO FILLING PMI POSITIONS
Taiwan is opening up job opportunities for Indonesian workers, so the East Java Provincial Government through the East Java Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Service is moving quickly to respond to immediately fill positions in several sectors in Taiwan starting October 6 2023.
Head of the East Java Manpower and Transmigration Office, Himawan Estu Bagijo, said that his party was optimistic that East Java residents could work in Taiwan, even though many other countries had also sent their workforce to Taiwan. Apart from Indonesia, competitors in the agricultural sector include the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
"We must be sure that East Java has a workforce in the agricultural sector who is competent and tough," he said during the Socialization of Job Opportunities in the Agricultural Sector (Formal Sector) in Taiwan," said Himawan.
For this reason, the East Java Provincial Government, through the East Java Manpower and Transmigration Department, gathered Indonesian Migrant Worker Placement Companies (P3MI), both with offices in East Java and Central Java (Jakarta), to carry out consolidation so that the East Java Manpower and Transmigration Office could prepare workers to go to Taiwan, with the aim of improving the welfare of the people of East Java. .
"After the socialization which presented the Head of the Labor Division of KDEI (Indonesian Trade and Economic Office) Taipei, the Ministry of Manpower, and Aspataki, then the Head of the Placement and Expansion of Job Opportunities Division of the East Java Provincial Manpower and Transmigration Office, Purwanti Utami consolidated their respective quotas and the letters received approval "How many are there, and carry out a supervisory function, so that there are no workers leaving whose requirements and procedures are not legal," he explained.
Regarding the competency requirements for working in Taiwan, Himawan said, because formal workers are the basis for the main requirement, namely competency, all you have to do is choose a position such as in Agriculture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Aquaculture.
"Later, it will depend on PMI's choice, and the UPT BLK of the East Java Manpower and Transmigration Office in Wonojati is also ready to support and several LPKs (Job Training Institutes) will also support. We will determine and see the success and it won't take long for it to be realized," he added.
Head of the IETO Taipei Labor Division, Purwanti Uta Djara, said that the socialization of job opportunities to Taiwan was carried out in East Java, because it is the base province for PMI and many P3MI. "In Taiwan, protection and welfare for PMI is very good. PMI salaries in the formal sector are around IDR 10 million - IDR 13 million," he said.
He also said that the positions that are still open now are in the agricultural sector, apart from that, manufacturing, fishing, construction, caretakers in nursing homes, household caregivers and household helpers.
Chairman of Aspataki (Association of Indonesian Worker Placement Companies), Saiful Mashud, said he supports the opening of job opportunities in Taiwan and the socialization of job opportunities organized by the East Java Provincial Government through the East Java Manpower and Transmigration Office.
"Moreover, the agricultural sector is still new and this is quite a good job. We also carry out recruitment which is definitely not too difficult because the basis of society is agriculture and animal husbandry. We support the government's program to expand employment opportunities, especially for East Java residents," he said, also appreciating the Governor East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa and Kadisnakertrans East Java, Himawan Estu Bagijo who also supported the socialization program for job opportunities in Taiwan with KDEI Taipei.
He hopes that the regulations governing how to work in the agricultural sector will not cause difficulties for unscrupulous individuals in the regional government. "Because people don't need to doubt about placement with the Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 4 of 2023. If a PMI fails to leave or doesn't comply with the PK, they will be replaced by BPJS," he said.
He also added that P3MI throughout Indonesia, especially East Java, is expected to maintain conducive work placements. "And don't let it become a market war. So there is a code of ethics and it must be adhered to by Aspataki members who control the agricultural sector so that it doesn't harm P3MI and PMI," he stressed.
Currently, continued Saiful, there are 144 P3MIs under Aspataki, while in East Java there are 60 P3MIs operating in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Korea, but Taiwan is also almost all P3MIs. "Yes, because in Taiwan the salary is quite large for housemaids alone, IDR 10 million, while the newly opened agricultural sector is IDR 13 million. If our people work a lot in Taiwan then the area will definitely become prosperous," he said
As is known, PMI who wish to register as formal workers in the agricultural sector in Taiwan must have at least several requirements, such as having experience working in agriculture and animal husbandry and/or, having an educational background in agriculture and animal husbandry and/or, having a certificate. competence in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry.
There are four positions open in the agricultural sector, namely first, Agriculture with physical work related to seeding, reforestation and maintenance as well as felling trees.
The second is Aquaculture with the management of fisheries/aquatic cultivation, including feeding, breeding, harvesting, and maintaining the work environment and related physical work.
Third is Forestry where physical work is related to seeding, reforestation and maintenance as well as felling trees.
Fourth is animal husbandry where livestock and poultry management includes feeding, breeding, milking, egg collection, livestock environmental management, waste disposal and recycling, preparation of feed ingredients, disease prevention, and related physical work. (her/s)
